Basic photonic integrated circuit design and layout. Covers waveguide structures, coupling mechanisms, platform and foundry selection (including silicon photonics and III-V), and an introduction to photonic design automation tools used in industry.

Technical Workshop

Covers photonic packaging techniques such as fiber-to-chip attach, die bonding, hermetic sealing, thermal management, and package validation. The testing portion covers PIC wafer and die testing, along with functional and environmental testing of packaged photonic devices.
